Notes from the Importer: The ancestors of current owners Ghislaine and Thierry Baltenwech settled in the region of Cahors in 1852 and built their domaine atop the third terrace in Cahors - the most prestigious due to it's soils and terroir. For the last 8 generations the domain was headed and run by women, and Ghislane has considerably developed the 30 acre estate along with her husband. The family believed early in organic practices and has always worked in an environmentally friendly manner, gaining organic certification in 2013. When Pierre took over his father‘s 20 h of holdings a few years ago he began using biodynamic practices and they are now Demeter certified.
The wine is 100% Malbec from an average age of 40 years but some vines date back over 100 years. This wine is only in stainless steel, thus preserving freshness of the Malbec fruit. A great new find, this is the pure essence of Malbec from the original home of the "Black Grape." Deep, dark, luminous fruit: blackberry currant and some spiced plum. Body balanced by fresh acidity. Soft tannin but gives a good structure.
