Notes from the Producer: We are a multi-generational wine family located in the heart of Alsace. Since 1998, we’ve converted our production to biodynamic wine making in response to the realization that our land and our vineyard’s longevity depend on their sustainability. We have worked hard to become both Demeter and EcoCert certified and are committed to offering the best of Alsatian terroir, rich in both history and savoir-faire.
15 years ago, we started to plant trees around the vineyard plots. And then, right in the middle of it. These trees are shelters for the animals, constitute a healthy competition for the vines, provide shadow for the plants (and for us as well), create diversity, are pretty and even give fruits. For that matter, having a cherry tree just next to a parcel of gewurztraminer on the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf made us imagine a wine made of grapes and cherries : Beetle Juice. So making wines also means telling about the landscape. And maybe, the more beautiful, harmonious and alive the landscape is, the more the wine is too.
We have 4 hectares of Grand Cru in the Kaefferkopf and the Wineck-Schlossberg. We try to express them in different ways through our work at the winery. Each cuvée says an aspect, tells an insight, a moment, a space, and every year, it starts over again. Our ambition is to offer different interpretations of the landscape. These interpretations can be drunk and shared during joyful moments as well as more serious ones, as you want.
