Notes from the Importer: Alessandro Viola winery is a small, 7 hectare vineyard planted to Grillo, Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese and Catarratto. They are located in the Rinosa district located in Alcamo, as well as on Mount Bonifitato, a mountain overlooking the city of Alcamo. Alessandro, a winemaker with national and European experience, leads all stages of the winemaking process, from the agricultural management of the vineyard to the wine-making operations of the grapes (he has a degree in viticulture and oenology). The company philosophy is very simple: make wine using only grapes; this isn't due to purely ethical reasons but also in his realization that pure wine is not only possible but that the result is better. The same approach is used in agriculture, moving totally away from the use of fertilizers and herbicides and instead relying on the natural fertility of the soil. "In wine there is a perfect chemical balance, only nature can go that far, who are we to do better than nature?"
