Notes from the Importer: "Wines from the sea" is the Croatian phrase surrounding the name Vinas Mora, a winegrowers' cooperative near Split, Primošten. On barren limestone rocks just a few meters above sea level, unique wines with vibrant, salty freshness are produced that compete with the best in the world.
Made from Babic bush vines, some of which are very old, from unique plots in the best locations at an altitude of 250 to 300m. Yields are extremely low, but the fruit delivered is of the highest quality, producing an exceptional wine with intense fruit extract, without a long extraction on the mash. The rugged terrain does not allow mechanical processing, so all cultivation is done by hand. After careful selection of the grapes left on the skins for 4-5 days and fermented spontaneously in open vats. More than half of the wine is aged in fiberglass tanks, while the rest goes into neutral 500-liter oak barrels. Kaamen II is bottled after one year without fining or filtration and with a very low dose of sulfur. The result is an extract-rich but balanced wine with deep color, great depth and complexity. Burgundy meets Croatia! Unique!
