Notes from the Importer: The Gismondi family has long tended the steep hills of Cerreto Sannita in Benevento, northeast of Naples. For generations, Maria and Pasquale Gismondi sold grapes to the local cooperative while making small amounts of wine for family use.
Their son Antonio, after years in hospitality abroad, returned home in 2019 with his wife Anabel and their daughters to revive the family vineyards. Encouraged by friends at Partida Creus, the Gismondis began producing their own wines in 2016, moving fully away from cooperative production.
The two-hectare estate sits 350–380 meters above sea level on clay and stone soils, planted to Malvasia di Candia and Falanghina for whites, and Sangiovese, Merlot, and Freisa for reds. The vines are farmed organically—without chemicals—guided by simple, biodynamic principles and traditional methods.
Antonio’s first vintage in 2019 marked a new era: pure, stainless-steel-aged wines with a focus on minerality and freshness. Each bottle is hand-waxed and labeled with the silhouette of Cerreto Sannita, the family’s birthplace.
