Notes from the Importer: The Quinard family has been farming this 14 hectare mountainside domaine since 1840. Five generations and nearly 200 years later, they are as committed as ever to organic, authentic, expressions of Bugey terroir.
Julien Quinard made the commitment to organic farming in 2009, the year in which he converted the entire vineyard to organic methods. No synthetic products (herbicides, insecticides) or chemical fertilisers are used. The vines are treated only with minerals and plants in order to produce the healthiest grapes possible.
The vinification process is traditional, with no yeast added. This means more manual work (ploughing one traille out of 2, leaving the other as grass), which makes it easier for the equipment to pass through.
